Cochrane Roping Club
Welcome To The Cochrane Roping Club!
The Cochrane Roping Club is a fun, roping oriented club located in Cochrane, Alberta. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or a seasoned roper, the Cochrane Roping Club accommodates all skill levels and has a variety of programs to offer everyone.
We are fully equipped with roping dummies, a Heel-o-matic and a Time Machine to provide beginner ropers a way to practice on something other than live cattle.
If you enjoy roping or want to learn how to rope, and want to have a lot of fun while doing it, we encourage you to come join the Cochrane Roping Club!

The Cochrane Roping Club is a not-for-profit organization with volunteers who help run it.
Membership
Whether you want to drop in, team rope, ranch rope, or rope the heel-o-matic a membership is required.
Memberships are purchased on an annual basis to be able to be a part of the Cochrane Roping Club. Even drop-in’s require them!
The Buckle Series is separate and still requires a membership but is also $150 for all 8 competition nights. This means it’s $18.75 to run in a round-robin each of those nights, it’s pretty amazing!
All members are required to have an Alberta Equestrian Federation Membership before riding. This is a Cochrane District Ag Society Regulation.
Membership has it benefits
The membership also comes with a card that gives you a 10-15% discount at local businesses in Cochrane that support our club!
Memberships keep the club running and allow us to pay for arena rentals, supplies, and any other costs incurred that are not cattle-related. The practice fees is what goes into the cattle to maintain and feed them, as well as any vet care to be able to keep them healthy and running.

The Cochrane Roping Club is pleased to offer a number of different programs for ropers.
Monday and Friday
Wednesday (May- June and September)
7:00 pm – 9:30 pm when there isn’t a Buckle Series scheduled. Please check Events Calendar for dates.
Open to all team ropers, including youth and beginners. Please see our Team Roping Program page for more details.
Wednesdays
7:00 pm to 9:00pm every Wednesday in July/August. The Youth Roping Program provides professional instruction by Jeff Quam to youth, 21 years or younger for 8 weeks, Please see our Youth Roping Program page for more details.
Ranch Roping
Wednesdays
For the 2024 Season Ranch Roping is back! We rope every Wednesday from May to September additional nights may be added depending on member interest. Check out our Events Calendar for dates.
Buckle Series runs on specific Fridays May-September (check Events Calendar for dates).
Heel-o-matic runs at 6pm every practice night in the summer in exception to Buckle Series nights.
Winter Heel-o-matic runs on specific days from Nov/Dec - April (check Events Calendar for dates).
