Our first goal is safety and respect!
At the Cochrane Roping Club safety of the horses, cattle, and riders is paramount.
No rough handling of cattle or horses will be tolerated. If mishandling does occur, members will be asked to remove themselves from the arena. If it happens a second time, members will forfeit their annual membership and any additional fees paid.
At every roping the Cochrane Roping Club board members are in attendance and are responsible for the welfare of our roping stock and the safety of our members and will make safety calls at that time.
Any physical or verbal abuse of CRC members will not be tolerated and result in removal from the club.
CRC Code of Conduct is designed to ensure that the Cochrane Roping club is a safe place for all members to learn to rope and participate in all type of roping events.
Any Maltreatment, bullying, or disrespectful behavior of participants that contravenes the clubs Code of Conduct policy will be managed by the board of directors.
All members must agree to and abide by the Code of Conduct policy prior to becoming a member.
Should a member see a violation of the Code of Conduct they are asked to report the incident through our Issues Management page.
All complaints need to follow the Respectful Process Principles as list in code of conduct.
Respectful Process
CRC acknowledges that complaints frequently involve an emotional response on both sides. All complaints must be presented in a manner that respects freedom of speech, the complaint process and the dignity of any party involved.
There is a mandatory 24-hour cool down period prior to making a complaint. The notable exception to this is a safety or security issue that must be resolved immediately to prevent serious injury or death to any participant, volunteer, spectator, etc. or to the livestock.
At no time are there to be any theatrics, yelling at any party, or any public displays that are disrespectful to either party or to any observer.
Read the full Code of Conduct in the CRC manual here.
Be respectful of your surroundings when warming up/roping. Pay attention to your fellow ropers/riders, assure arena is clear before asking for your steer.
Individuals participating in a roping practice or a jackpot MUST help wrap, unwrap, push up cattle, and bring in cattle/turn out cattle in order to rope.
To assure heelers get a fair practice it is recommended if headers miss more than 2 steers in a row they place the rope on the steer in the chute.
During practice headers will ONLY pull steers to the far fence to help save cattle for the season.
Any physical or verbal abuse will not be tolerated and result in removal from the club.
